PTI Security Systems Introduces AP1 Keypad, Redefining Access Control for Self-Storage Industry

As self-storage operators hope to attract and retain tenants with more automated and efficient access, entry methods that integrate proven technology and deliver seamless self-storage experiences are growing in demand.

Building upon PTI’s extensive expertise in keypad functionality, its R&D team created the AP1 to address the evolving needs of tenants and operators while exceeding current offerings with innovative features and new additions. The reimagined solution offers new features and additions that provide a high-level foundation for foreseeable future keypad innovations.

"The AP1 keypad reflects the shifting expectations of operators and their tenants and is a direct replacement for our VP Standard line of keypads,” noted PTI Director of Marketing Steve Reeder. “AP1 integrates Bluetooth technology with robust design features to enhance convenience and support advanced automation capabilities, redefining the standard for access control in the industry."

The AP1 adopts a larger OLED display that provides operators with expanded messaging and branding opportunities, including facility logos. The keypad also features next generation Bluetooth, with an increased range, allowing tenants touchless entrance and exit of the facility using just a swipe on their phone.  

Building upon learnings from previous PTI keypad generations, the AP1 features a robust platform designed for greater durability and easier maintenance, with increased surge protection capabilities and a clamshell chassis.  An optional dual-purpose heated keypad keeps the unit from freezing in colder climates while providing an additional heat source for internals.  Raised, backlit buttons with positive tactile response allow for easier operation of the keypad for gloved hands.  Like all PTI keypads, the AP1 integrates directly to StorLogix and is available for ordering in May 2024.
